Secrets 22

Chapter 22

Santo Domingo. (Dominican Republic)

Suddenly Vin saw Valentino walking to Luna’s side and without being aware of it, he moved to one side, hiding his presence, narrowing his eyes. A few more seconds and Val was lying next to her on the hammock.

From where Vin was standing he could almost hear what they were saying, so hesitantly he moved forward just a couple of steps.

Luna had been so lost in her own thought that she didn’t notice that she wasn’t alone anymore.

“You feel like sharing?” Val whispered as Luna jumped, startled, not registering who the voice belonged to.

Blinking, she turned her head and saw Valentino standing at her side. In response, Luna nodded ‘yes’, smiling slightly. Valentino grinned and sat next to her.

“I didn’t know you smoked.” Luna whispered hoarsely as she passed the joint to him. She didn’t realize that she had been crying and her face was stained with a few tears.

Val frowned, he knew full well that those tears had been shed thinking about Vin and even though Val wanted to tell Luna about his wedding proposal to Renee, he kept silent about it. Right now Luna’s pain was more important than his own happiness and he suspected that Renee would love to be the one who told Luna about it and not him.

“It’s been a while, but I can’t sleep.” Val replied as he lifted his hand, cleaning her cheeks, causing Luna to frown slightly with his gentle action but grateful because he didn’t ask her the reason why she was crying. “I didn’t want to wake Renee up.” He added as he shrugged his shoulders, grinning in silent welcome to her unspoken ‘thank you for not asking’ and took a long puff, blowing the smoke.

“I lost my temper this morning with her.” Luna said, making room for him at her side. “I’m such a bitch some times.” Valentino made himself comfortable on the hammock, looking at the open sky.

In fact lately Luna had been a bitch with Renee, but Val couldn’t blame her, he suspected that she was having a hard time dealing with her own feelings and Vin. And apart from that Renee had been pushing her, trying to find what was really happening between them.

“She told me.” Val replied, looking back at Luna. “You were right though. It’s none of her business. If you say that you’re happy, then we are happy. Period.” He added, shrugging his shoulders one more time as he gave Luna the joint.

Reverse psychology was a way as good as any other to make anyone speak about what was bothering them. Not that Val was a psychologist, but he knew a few things about women and their feelings.

“That’s the point, Val,” Luna said, sighing hard. “I’m not happy…not anymore.” Her tone of voice was saying much more than her words and Val took her free hand in his and squeezed it gently. In response, Luna smiled a little and looked at the view in front of them.

Vin frowned slightly at her statement.

Luna had been acting like always around him. He hadn’t noticed anything different in her behavior at all, with the exception of tonight at the club. She had been laughing and making jokes. They had been teasing each other while hanging around. Jesus! He had spent more time with her than with anyone over the last three weeks.

Had he been so absorbed in his own world that he hadn’t noticed how her smiles weren’t reaching anymore her eyes? Was he that selfish?

They were silent for a long moment until Luna spoke again. “We had sex.” She whispered absently, looking at the ocean between the date palms. Her face flushing a little with her words.

Valentino glanced at her from the corner of his eye, sighing. He wasn’t sure how he knew it, but he did.

“The damn party?” He asked, but somehow it wasn’t a question at all.

“Yeah.” Luna said, sighing hard.

Val had always suspected it, but Luna was really good at pretending. So good that she managed to fool him. Whether it had been the same night or the following day, he didn’t know, but that they had been together, he had no doubt about it.

Val chuckled silently; he was starting to like the idea. Luna and Vin had more things in common than he thought at the beginning and for some unthinkable reason Val was glad that Luna had caught Vin’s attention even if it was just concerning sex. It was a strange beginning, but a beginning nonetheless.

He had no other choice but bow at Renee’s instincts. Maybe Luna was that kind of woman, capable of getting some common sense back in Vin’s head. Chicks might be fun and hot as hell, but at the end they were just that. An experienced woman was much more complicated and most of the time required a pair of balls to deal with them, but they sure as hell were much more interesting also.

“Way to go, beautiful.” Val replied, grinning.

Luna chuckled sadly as she looked down at her lap, letting out the air she had been holding without being aware of it. Val noticed, but he pretended that he didn’t, grinning. Luna squeezed Val’s hand, showing once more her thanks for ignoring those small details.

Sometimes a non-spoken dialogue revealed more feelings and emotions than talking about them aloud.

Deeply inside her heart, she wasn’t surprised at Val’s actions and words. She should have known better than to think neither that Renee or Valentino were going to judge her, and silently she kicked herself because she had underestimated their friendship.

“Should I ask..?” Val teased, elbowing her.

“Fucking great.” Luna mouthed, grinning.

Val mimicked her grin. It wasn’t the first time that he talked with Luna like this, but lately they hadn’t talked too much. It was different with her though. She was like Renee was in some aspects.

Luna always treated him with deep respect and she even showed him in her stories. Sometimes like him and other times as an original character, using his physical semblance. Val really liked it when Vin’s fans were thinking about him too and not only about Vin. Apart from that, they always pictured him as the perfect guy who each and every woman would be able to love until the end of time.

Luna even thought about him while writing the script of “Seth”. She created a character and made sure that just one man would be able to perform it. She had said to Renee that she was tired of playing “finding Valentino Morales inside Vin Diesel’s movies” game. It was the time for him to have dialogue and a role with real presence on the screen with such strength that not even one single fucker would be able to cut his scenes later in post-production.

Val chuckled silently at his own thoughts. Vin was constantly saying that she had no idea about how business was made in Hollywood, but sure as hell she knew a couple of useful tricks.

“We did it tonight again.” Luna whispered shyly, breaking the comfortable silence, her voice suddenly weak.

At her words, Vin frowned deeply, thinking about tonight. What they had shared, he still didn’t know, but it wasn’t just sex. Not tonight.

Val knit a brow, a questioning look all over his face until realization dawned as soon as Val remembered Vin’s question when they were leaving the club.

“He got rid of Berto, right?” Val asked, narrowing his eyes. Luna looked up at him, surprise on her face.

The way Val knew Vin amazed her constantly. A couple of seconds later, she nodded ‘yes’.

“The fucker used his recently found connections here.” Valentino chuckled; shaking his head and Vin couldn’t help but grin.

Maybe he had acted like a fucker, but it had been more than worthwhile and Vin was sure that if he had to, he would do it again without a second thought.

“Yeah, that’s my bro,” Val said sarcastically.

Yeah, that’s me, Vin echoed silently.

“Did he tell you why?” Val asked, taking the joint with his free hand. In response, Luna nodded ‘yes’.

“He said he was mad at me because I was leaving him alone.” Luna explained as Val took a puff, keeping it inside his lungs. His mind already racing. “He spent the whole fucking week after some chick, trying to fuck her and when she turned him down, he is all mad at me. Can you believe it? What a pair of balls that asshole has.” She scolded, frowning and Val chuckled at her words.

Indeed, Vin was something else, but deep inside he was also a good guy. Valentino suspected the real hidden motivations, but kept silent. He was starting to get the whole picture now, but there were still some missing pieces.

“Then I’m back and he’s fucking another chick and screaming my name.” Valentino winced and choked on the smoke.

Oh, that missing piece from the puzzle was one of the good ones.

“You are shitting me, right?” He asked between coughs, his eyes widened.

“Nope,” Luna replied, grinning like a loony and Vin grimaced.

It was the first time in all his life that he had done that. All your fault though, sweetheart, Vin added silently as a strong shiver crossed his spine, recalling their previous encounter. Fuck, he added silently.

“I couldn’t believe it and then I saw the girl coming out of his bedroom. Oh, God! You should have seen her face, Val. It was priceless, she was all pissed off.” Luna explained, forcing her laughter back. Val laughed softly as he gave the joint to Luna again.

You’re telling me, baby, Vin told himself, chuckling.

“Damn, I bet she was,” Val replied, grinning wickedly, picturing the whole scene inside his brain. “Did she tell you anything?” he asked, a big smile on his lips.

Val couldn’t understand the reason why but as soon as a chick had fucked Vin, she considered she had the right to know everything about him and his life.

“Yeah, she asked me who I was and I said, I am Luna,” Luna said and she couldn’t help but her voice sounded tinted with pride.

This caused an unconscious grin to grace Vin’s lips. Damn right you are, woman, he said silently as his grin grew wider.

“Damn right you are, beautiful,” Val retorted, squeezing her hand.

Luna laughed with him and rested her head on his shoulder, taking a deep puff.

“Are you sure that we can’t use his money to duplicate you, Val?” Luna asked, mockingly. In response, Val cracked up, laughing hard, and kissed her forehead while Vin rolled his eyes, chuckling silently.

Val had a way with women since forever and Vin had always known that. Valentino Morales respected all of them with no exceptions.

“Yeah, beautiful, I’m sure,” Val replied, smiling broadly and after a moment he spoke. “He really loves you, Luna,” he whispered, taking the joint from Luna’s fingers.

Luna closed her eyes. “But he’s not in love with me.” She replied softly, sighing hard.

Val went lost, thinking if he should tell her about Tess or not while taking a long puff, blowing the smoke to the sky.

He had never said her name aloud since that night and, no one, not even Renee, knew about her. It was a painful memory for Vin even though it had been almost fifteen years, and Val always respected his sorrow concerning Tess.

Deep inside his heart, Val knew that Vin felt ashamed about how Tess had fooled him and that was one of the reasons why he treated women the way he did. Apart from that, they had a deal about everything concerning Tess’ and Vin’s past.

After a long moment deliberating in silence, Valentino took a deep breath, making up his mind. Luna deserved to know about Tess because Val was more than sure that Vin was making her pay for Tess’ sins even if he was doing it unconsciously.

“When we were bouncers at The Tunnel we met this girl, Tess,” Val said.

At the sound of her name, Vin narrowed his eyes, tightening his jaw and Luna’s snapped open. She had never heard or had read anything about someone called Tess.

“Back then Steve, Dave, Vin and I were hunters, Luna,” Val laughed softly, remembering those days, making Luna’s lips spread in a grin, picturing them when they were younger. “In fact, we were more than just that. We were real killers with nicknames that reflected much more than just our behavior. Not even one chick was able to turn us down. But of all of us, Vin was the fucking king of the hunters. If he spotted a girl, she was falling at his feet the same night. Of course, we were conscious about our limitations. The rich girls were off limits for most of us because our modest origins. However, there were always some of them who loved to take a walk on the wild side, fucking the bad boys. But still, Vin always had girls waiting for him outside the club or at the bar at the end of every night. Sometimes even two or three who were friends and were interested in threesomes with him. The fucker made honour of his nickname though. Never heard anyone complaining after he was done with them.”

Val paused, chuckling a little and Luna grinned unconsciously. Indeed, Vin was more than just great concerning sex and she could take that on faith.

“But, Tess…she was different. She had nothing to do with the rest. Tess had class; she was intelligent and beautiful to the point of being breathtaking. Steve, Dave and me were always with an almost permanent hard on if she was around us. All of us were bewitched by her charm with no exceptions.” He explained and then took a puff, giving the joint to Luna. “How wrong we were with her, Luna…” Val trailed off, shaking his head, his voice suddenly full of pain.

Vin’s hands closed into fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white under the pressure. Shut the fuck up, Valentino! He cursed silently.

“Like I told you, Vin was a genuine hunter, but Tess sent him to hell the minute he opened his mouth. It was the first time and Vin was more determined than ever to have her. He worked his ass off and finally she fell for him. Tess was constantly saying how much she was in love with him and how special and unique Vin was for her though.” Val paused and looked at Luna. “Vin wanted to marry her and have a lot of kids. It was the first time that was he really in love. Vin was completely sure that Tess was the one.”

Luna gasped soundlessly as Vin narrowed his eyes, a low growl escaping his lips. Val nodded ‘yes’, reassuring his words.

Flash back

“Yo, Diesel, take a look at that, man,” Steve said, elbowing him. Vin turned his head on the direction Steve was looking and his heart jumped inside his chest.

“Jesus Fucking Christ…” Vin whispered breathlessly.

Just a few meters from the entrance of the club there was the most beautiful girl Vin had ever laid eyes on, and he had seen a few of them. She was standing waiting in the line to enter the club with two more girls. Vin went motionless and stared at her.

She was of average size, her hair was black, and so long that it ended at her waist. She had on a silky black dress that clutched her body like a second skin revealing every curve in the right place. She had a body to die for and Vin found himself getting hard just looking at her. She was wearing black high heels and had a little matching purse.

Vin had been so absorbed looking at her that he hadn’t notice he had been holding his breath until Steve smacked the back of his head, waking him up from his trance. Vin blinked furiously and smiled broadly. There she was, the woman of his dreams in flesh and bones.

——-

“Hey, beautiful, do you want to check my pulse?” Vin purred sensually, showing her his wrist. Tess tilted her head back, narrowing her big green eyes in suspicion.

“Why should I do that?” She replied, arching a brow. Vin flashed her with his intense gaze and in his more sexy voice, he spoke.

“‘Cause right now I’m not sure if I died and went to heaven, sweetheart.” Tess chuckled at that and crossed her arms over her chest.

“And that’s bad because…” She trailed off; her voice was deep and soft, almost hoarse. Vin shivered at the tone as a cocky grin graced his lips.

“I’m wondering if you’re an angel.” He replied, his eyes flickering to hers. Slowly Tess knit a brow and burst out laughing. Vin frowned slightly confused as she pushed him back.

“Then, keep looking and wondering, asshole.” She purred sensually and passed him, heading inside the club, still laughing. Vin turned his head and followed with his gaze. He was in love.

End flash back

Vin blinked furiously, focusing his mind on the present moment and narrowed his eyes.

“…They were going to have dinner with his parents. Vin was going to introduce her to his mom, so he asked the owner of the club if he could leave a couple of hours before. He wanted to spend the day with her because that night would be really important for him and he wanted to be in perfect shape, you know?”

Luna’s eyes were wide in anticipation as Val continued talking.

“It had been a quite night, so the boss said that there was no problem.” Val explained looking at Luna.

Vin hadn’t thought about that damned night in almost fifteen years. He’d always tried to forget it, even though that was an impossible task. That night, his life had changed forever.

Flash back

Vin entered the building and climbed the stairs, two steps at a time. He hadn’t said a thing to Tess, Vin wanted to give her a surprise. He knew that she would probably be sleeping, but he loved to wake her up kissing her gently, stroking her skin slowly.

Finally after what seemed an eternity for him, but was just a few seconds, he reached his floor and headed to his apartment, now their apartment since Tess was spending more time in there than in her own place. He was walking with long strides and a wicked grin plastered on his lips.

Vin pulled out his keys and searched inside of the pocket of his jacket for the small box. Lately Tess had been acting weird around him, but Vin was sure that she only was nervous because he was going to introduce her to his mom. Vin couldn’t wait to watch her face when he gave her the ring.

He had been saving money to buy a decent one, and even though it wasn’t a diamond, Vin suspected that she was going to love it as much as he loved her. It cost him a little fortune considering how short he was walking around lately, but it was worth the effort.

Vin had been saving each and almost every dollar to make a reality of his ultimate dream, “Strays”, and even though that ring was going to mean a delay in the shooting of his first long movie, Vin didn’t think twice and bought it. Tess deserved his sacrifice and more.

He had never placed anything or anyone ahead of his own dreams and plans for the future. Not even once had a girl had meant for him more than a wild night, but Tess was a completely different thing. She was going to act in his movie and with a bit of luck, they would both be married before the current year ended. Then they were going to move to LA and they were going to start a family and a new life together.

Grinning at his own thoughts, Vin opened the door and entered his apartment.

He had been so lost in his own plans for their future together that he didn’t hear the noises. Vin left the keys on the table and headed directly to the kitchen, playing with the small box between his fingers. Taking a deep breath, he opened the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water, gulping in one long draught half of it. His heart was beating fast and he was nervous as hell.

Vin left the bottle on the counter and dried his lips with the back of his hand when he heard her. He went motionless, frowning slightly. Vin swore he heard her moaning.

The idea of Tess touching herself while thinking about him made his dick twitched inside his jeans and grinning devilishly; he left the box on the counter next to the bottle and headed to their bedroom. God, how he loved her!

When Vin was walking along the hallway, determined to make her come so hard that she ended up crying, he went motionless, hearing her voice.

“Oh, God, YES!” She exclaimed. Vin frowned slightly and moved forward a couple of steps, his stomach clenched painfully as his heart started to race. “Fuck me, baby…yes, just like that.”

Vin’s blood froze inside his veins as he hesitantly opened the door of their bedroom. His heart stopped dead as he felt the air being knocked out of his lungs with such force that he gasped. His eyes widened and he blinked furiously.

It couldn’t be, he had to be having a nightmare and at any time he was going to wake up. The vision in front of him shattered all his hopes and dreams in seconds, breaking his heart.

Tess, the only woman he had loved with all his heart and soul; the woman he was going to introduce to his mom in less than 24 hours because he was going to marry her. The woman who meant so much for him that he had moved back his own dreams in order to have a family with her. The woman who was going to be the mother of his kids was a few feet from him, screaming and moaning oblivious to his presence while two guys were fucking her at once on his bed.

End Flash Back

Val sighed hard. Luna’s eyes were wide and her mouth hung.

“It was my night off and since I lived downstairs from Vin, I heard the shouts. At first, I thought they were having a fight or something, not that they had many. Vin treated her like a queen and did each and every thing she asked him for all the time. He never, not even once, cheated on her, even though each night at least a dozen chicks were all ready to spread their legs for him.” Val chuckled sadly. “Anyway, that fight didn’t seem like the others, so I went upstairs and I found that the main door of the apartment was open. I couldn’t believe what I saw.”

At this point, Luna’s mind was racing with all kind of thoughts and emotions.

“Tess was wrapped just in a sheet and she was crying her eyes out, while saying that she was really sorry and that she loved him, asking Vin to forgive her.”

Luna gasped soundlessly, she couldn’t believe the story. Val nodded ‘yes’ as if he could hear Luna’s thoughts.

“What about Vin? I mean didn’t he say anything, he was just there?” Luna asked. Val shook his head ‘no’ as he frowned deeply.

“Vin was ignoring her, acting as if Tess wasn’t even there with him. He was…”

Vin kept talking.

“…Throwing all her clothes and shit through the window while muttering obscenities.”

Luna and Val jumped, startled, as they turned their heads fast. Vin was there in a tank and boxers, his hands closed in fists, his knuckles white and his eyes sparkling with unshed tears.
