Odd Couple 3

I was leaving New Mecca, leaving Jack. Imam will take care of her.I already had mercs on my neck, they work fast, and I wanted off New Mecca before they tracked down who I was with. They would have hurt her, and I have to get lost for a while.

The mercs had scuttled a deal for a ship, and now I had to try and set up another.

Something different about this crew.

There were the four, they were good, so I wasn’t too surprised that they figured out how I would be leaving. Then again, there weren’t that many places to get a ship, so it wasn’t hard.

Then there’s that other one. A woman. No merc. I would have noticed.

You kept downwind, and never made a sound, not once.

If it weren’t for your scent, caught once, I’d never even know you were there. Clean. Some sort of flower scent, real light. Mercs wouldn’t be bothered.

You’d been tracking me for over a week.

You may not have noticed, but I’ve been tracking you too.

Had to dump these mercs first, hoped to ditch them down the alley, just have to get them far enough away from everyone so I don’t draw attention.

They just had to go and grab that girl.

You could have taken me out clean, right there, I could smell you, you were close.

When that first merc went down, I was surprised.
Didn’t mind that you took out the rest.

A shame that the girl had to see that, but it could have been a lot worse, seems someone’s figured out what gets to me.

I was surprised you let me see you, you still had the rifle out, you could still have killed me easy.
