Secrets 73

Chapter 73

Vin’s place. LA (The following day)

“I guess this leaves us at the beginning, we’ll have to wait and see where it goes from there.”

Not only did that make sense but it was fair enough and Vin knew it. It was also honest and, even though the many possibilities were almost giving him a headache, Vin also knew that, if for a change, he was able to stick to his promise, Luna would trust him again. And that was what really mattered. Vin wanted, no, needed Luna trusting him again. It was the only way to save their marriage.

Releasing her and getting in his car to drive back to his shitty excuse for a life had been the hardest thing to do, but Vin had done it because it was also the right thing to do.

It had broken his heart to see Luna standing at the entrance of their home, watching him as he pulled away, but both had known that there were many loose ends he had to tie up before he could go back to her.

A little less talking and a bit more action, Vin had reminded himself over and over as he had driven back to his place, and he had kept chanting that line non-stop as he had entered his old house, heading directly to his bedroom.

He was exhausted but sleeping was the last thing within Vin’s head. He had a lot of thinking to do and knew he wouldn’t get any rest. Taking a shower sounded like a plan and Vin padded towards the bathroom, removing his jacket as he went.

“Where have you been?”

Sheila’s voice pulled Vin out of his thoughts. His steps didn’t falter for a fraction of a second.

“Out.” Vin replied curtly as he kept walking.

Sheila swallowed a nasty reply. She had heard the front door and the sound of wheels scratching the asphalt. Hurrying her steps Sheila had seen Vin’s car disappearing down the path to the main gates. That had been around midnight and now a new day was breaking. He had spent the entire night out.

“You disconnected your cell phone. I was worried sick about you.”

“I bet you were.” Vin snarled, removing his shirt.

It was then when he caught Luna’s scent, and, without thinking, Vin buried his face in his shirt, inhaling deeply. Her essence was all over his shirt and Vin grinned, folding it carefully. He wasn’t washing that shirt any time soon.

“So, wanna tell me where the fuck have you been?” Sheila folded her arms across her chest, standing at the entrance of the bathroom.

Vin glanced at her over his shoulder, noticing how her face was red with anger as she stared at his folded shirt, resting on the counter top. She was beyond pissed off. He couldn’t care less. This was as good an occasion as any other to break it off with her. Vin couldn’t wait to kick Sheila out of his house and his life. The sooner the better.

“With my wife.” He couldn’t seem to stop grinning as he turned around, facing Sheila.

It had nothing to do with humiliating Sheila by rubbing the fact under her nose and everything to do with the deep satisfaction Vin felt. Knowing he had been where he belonged, if only for a few hours, was enough to keep him grinning like a loony for the rest of the week. He could still feel Luna’s warm body pressed against his.

Sheila looked like she had swallowed poison. Her face contorted with disgust and rage. She wanted nothing more than to claw her nails in Vin’s face, ripping his eyes out of their sockets, wiping any trace of that goofy grin.

“You lousy stinking bastard!!”

Vin anticipated Sheila’s next move even before her own brain registered. When Sheila shrieked, enraged, blindly rushing at him, Vin was already waiting for her attack, blocking her hands mere inches from his face.

Sheila yelled, powerlessly twisting like a fish on a hook. She wasn’t a match for him, not even in her enraged state.

Vin chuckled at her outburst. She was a nutcase all right. He moved forward, forcing Sheila to walk backwards until the back of her knees bumped against the edge of the bed. It was then when Vin released her wrists, pushing Sheila and she fell backwards, cursing and yelling a string of profanities.

Funny how even when Luna cursed like a sailor she sounded ladylike and Sheila just sounded like the slum-dweller she was. Certainly you could get the girl out of the trailer but not the other way around.

“Shut the fuck up and listen.” Vin growled coldly, staring at her and whatever Sheila saw in his gaze made her still, panting hard, staring back at him with wide eyes. “This shit ends here and now. We’re done, Sheila.”

At his words Sheila’s eyes widened even more and her mouth fell open. This couldn’t be happening. This was a bad joke.

“I’m your girlfriend.” She gritted her teeth hard enough to send a jolt of pain through her jaw. “You can’t throw me out like that.”

Vin snorted. “You are not my girlfriend, Sheila. You’re nothing to me. We fucked and that was all. Now it’s over and I want you out of my house and my life.”

Sheila gasped at his cruel words, wishing silently for him to die slow and painfully. He would pay in full for what he was doing to her, Sheila vowed silently. Still, she recovered quickly.

“You can’t be serious. I-I’m sorry I reacted that way.” Her voice sounded softer as she slowly sat on the bed. “I swear I don’t know what got into me. I love you, Vin.”

Vin chuckled. “You don’t love me, Sheila. You’re unable to love anyone else but you.” He looked at her, emotionless. “What you love is to be under the spotlights, to rub under every single woman’s nose that you’re fucking Vin Diesel, but that’s all and we both know it.”

Sheila shook her head. “No! That’s not true!” Her eyes filled with tears that spilled down her cheeks. “You know I love you. I can’t live without you.” She added, pretending to be hurt by his words.

Watching Luna crying had killed him and even the sight of tears in Lorraine’s eyes had caused Vin’s guts to knot. But Sheila’s tears did nothing to him; they were crocodile tears and he knew it. She was a good actress, Vin conceded, but not that good as to fool him for a second. Sheila was pretending and Vin could see it miles away.

“Listen here, Sheila. You don’t mean anything to me and you’ll never mean anything to me. We fucked. It was fun, but now it’s over.”

“That’s all I am for you? Just a fuck?” Sheila snapped angrily.

Actually she had been a lousy fuck but Vin wouldn’t say that aloud. Not for her sake but for his. Admitting he had gone from having a first class quality sex life with his wife to having a sorry excuse of a sex life not only with Sheila but with more than a dozen chicks as well was a tough pill to swallow.

Vin didn’t say anything; he just looked at her impassively.

“I’ve done everything you wanted me to do and more, Vin. I’ve done things that made me feel dirty and filthy just because you wanted.” Sheila threw in his face with venom.

Vin shrugged his shoulders. To him it had been sex, plain and simple. Among adults that consented there weren’t dirty acts. Anal sex, threesomes, toys and the like were just an addition. Sheila was never hurt though, in fact she had enjoyed every second. The only thing wounded had been her ego.

“I don’t recall that I pointed a gun at you, babe. You could have said ‘no’.” Sarcasm was heavy in his voice which only caused Sheila to get more furious.

“We both know that if I would have done that, you would have gone in search of another to get what you wanted. You said that yourself.” Sheila snapped resentfully as she got to her feet.

“So what?” Once more Vin shrugged his shoulders. “That fact doesn’t mean shit. You still could have said ‘no’, but you didn’t.” The corner of his mouth tugged up in a cruel smirk. “And we both know why.”

“I’m not a whore.” Sheila bit out the words as her hand whipped out toward his face. Vin caught it easily, pulling Sheila to him.

“I don’t give a fuck, Sheila.” Vin replied coldly, releasing her wrist and moving backwards. He was fed up with her bullshit. “Pack your shit and get the fuck out of my house.”

Sheila’s eyes widened. “You can’t do this to me!” She cried out.

“I can do whatever the fuck I want, Sheila.” Vin snarled, staring at her. “Did you think for a second that I wouldn’t get wind of what you did to Luna? That I wouldn’t find what you said to my wife?”

Sheila gasped at the real meaning of his words, realizing that Vin had set a trap for her and she had fallen for it. She had thought that he really cared for her.

“How did I find about that?” Vin grinned devilishly as he watched the play of emotion across Sheila’s features. Right now her face was an open book. “You thought that Marcela would back your actions? That she would cover your ass?” He smiled indulgently; the way a grownup would smile at a little girl who did something stupid because of her naivety. “Next time you decide to jump in the pool to fuck with the big sharks you better make sure you touch the bottom or they’ll drag you along.” Vin chuckled.

Sheila gritted her teeth; she wasn’t sure what pissed her off more. Vin’s words or his condescending tone of voice. It infuriated her to realize that Vin had been using her as much as she had been using him.

“You’ve been humiliating me, treating me as if I was a worthless piece of shit just because I wanted to be with you.”

“Humiliating you?” Vin snorted, rolling his eyes. “You don’t have a fucking clue what humiliation is, girl.” He shook his head in disbelief, thinking about Luna and the living hell she had been going through because of his stupidity. “Humiliation is turning my wife into the laughing stock of every single living soul, cheating on her with a slut like you when everybody knows that you will never fit her shoes, ever. That’s humiliating.” Vin hissed though clenched teeth. “And as for treating you like a worthless piece of shit…well, that’s exactly what you are, Sheila.”

Vin’s words felt like a kick in the teeth. She hated him with everything in her.

“You’re not better than me, you loser!” Sheila spat with all the haughtiness she could muster. “If you think you’re gonna get away with this you’re dead wrong, Vin.”

In response Vin threw back his head and laughed which only caused Sheila to get more furious. Once more she tried to hit him but this time Vin didn’t touch her, instead he dodged her attack, moving out of her reach.

Sheila yelled in frustration and threw herself to the floor, calling him every name in the book at the top of her lungs.

What the fuck…? Vin’s brows shot up, watching as Sheila started stamping her feet on the floor, screaming obscenities, rolling to one side and then to the other. Her face was contorted and red with rage; her mouth wide open as she punched the carpeted floor over and over, growling and grunting.

Blinking in disbelief, Vin recalled the few occasions he had seen Chris or Adiana acting in a similar way while going through a tantrum, after they hadn’t gotten whatever they had wanted at the time. And then recalled how Nila and his brother Paul used to proceed.

It was then when the door of the bedroom opened and Dave entered, going motionless as soon as he saw Vin standing at one side of the room and Sheila throwing such a tantrum Dave’s mouth fell open in utter shock.

“What the fuck, man?” Dave’s brows knit at once as he met Vin’s gaze.

Vin ignored Dave’s question and padded across the room, stopping at the entrance of the bathroom. If Sheila wanted to act like a little girl throwing a tantrum Vin would act as the only adult within the room, ignoring her performance.

“Pack your shit and get the fuck out of my house, Sheila.” Vin threw over his shoulder coldly.

His words caused Sheila to go motionless, staring at him. She was panting hard, her face contorted, flushed with unrestrained fury.

Vin looked at Dave. “Make sure she doesn’t mess up the place. I’m selling the house.” He added, and with that Vin entered the bathroom, closing and locking the door at his back.

In one second Sheila jumped to her feet, blindly rushing to the closed door of the bathroom. She never made it that far because Dave grabbed her by her waist, stopping her dead in her tracks.

“Whoa, where you think you’re going, girl?” He lifted her from the floor and carried her to his bedroom.

“Don’t touch me!” Sheila growled, struggling to get loose from his vice-like grip.

In response Dave chuckled and released her, closing the door. Then he leaned backwards, blocking the only way out and stared at her.

“Let me the fuck out!” Sheila ordered and tried to move him but it was of no use. Dave was bigger than Vin.

“Calm down, would you?” His voice sounded soft as he smiled tenderly at her. Dave’s brain had already started scheming a way to use Sheila’s anger to his own benefit.

“Fuck you!” Sheila spat, panting infuriated.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk??%A
