Stargate Universe: Season 2 trailer

It’s here! Finally! And man does it look cool!

Okay, now that I’ve done my excited all-exclamation-point dance, a word of caution: Trailers are evil. Yes, that’s the ugly truth behind it all. In this series especially because those trailers will have you thinking one thing and then BOOM! They come around and cold cock you from a side you didn’t even know was there.

That said, we do get to see some interesting developments in this trailer and, even if we have no context and have no bloody idea what those developments mean in the scheme of things, we’re clearly in for one hell of a ride.

Everybody survives, sorta. That can’t be bad right? Especially given how the last episode ended up.

Scott has gone all punch happy. First that guy in the beginning of the trailer and lastly…damn, did he just deck Colonel Young? Must think sideways – did he just deck someone in Colonel Young’s body? In any case, Scott is toughening up a little and it’s about damned time.

Alien planets and Greer’s flamethrower gets put to good use, but on what? All of their supplies are out there on the ground too. It’s not a nice development. Has the LA dumped them on a planet? Would the LA even bother to leave them with supplies though? Are the Destiny crew dumping the LA on a planet? I can see the Destiny crew leaving supplies. (Starting to see what I mean about context?)

What the hell is up with Chloe? We started to see a little bit of this in season one, when she could ‘read’ the screens in the downed alien craft but what new deal is this? Are we getting Math Girl in addition to Math Boy? What the hell is that on her leg?

Speaking of Math Boy, looks like Eli has a new friend and of course she would be LA. That might be good (after all, nothing at all wrong with redheaded yumminess) for a short while but what’s the fallout of that?

Rush on an alien planet. Rush and Amanda Perry, together again. Does that mean that Wray is back on Earth and Rush is kissing Wray? Again? Rush and Chloe and Rush’s blackboard. Once again, is someone else solving Rush’s work? What’s the fallout of that? And not only am I talking about what that math does, but in how it’s going to affect Rush to, once again, have some child come along and just like that, solve something that’s made him nuts. Speaking of possibly nuts, he’s seeing his dead wife again and hell, maybe she is his conscience after all.

We don’t see much of TJ either but we do get a very painful shot of Young from the last season’s closing teaser. Is this what makes him darker?

Is Colonel Telford really alive? Is this some weird dream sequence? It’s impossible to say. Is Colonel telford the guy that Scott is really clocking at the end there, when it looks like he’s punching Colonel Young? (Why does my head hurt?)

Colonel Young looks seriously dangerous in this trailer. We don’t see much of him but what we do see is bad ass and that’s been a while coming. Good to see.

Sharon and Wray also come into play. Is this where Perry is aboard the Destiny? Is Sharon ready to move on?

Rush is back to his old tricks by the look of it. Finds the bridge and tells no one? Then again, context, right? There’s got to be a reason and I’m sure it will be explained but there’s a small part that knows that Rush has wanted this for a while, total control of the Destiny. This is one thing he has that no one else had to do for him and I can see him being very territorial about it.

Caine is back. Now that’s six shades of interesting, isn’t it? And it looks like Franklin might be back too, although the shot is way too blurry and quick to be sure, but it sure looks like Franklin.

Closing with those last shots of Young, welcoming who to the Destiny?

I can’t wait until the series starts up again in September so that all of these snips can be put together in some sort of context. I can say without an ounce of exaggeration that Stargate Universe is my favorite show, one I look forward to with an anticipation that I haven’t mustered since the early days of the X-Files. That’s really saying something.
