Hell bent on vengeance, former Confederate officer Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) travels west in search of the Union soldiers who murdered his wife. His quest leads him to “Hell on Wheels,” the dangerous, raucous town that follows the construction of the nation’s first transcontinental railroad.

Rock Group “Junkyard Prophet” Delivers Controversial Message at School Assembly:

US, Iowa – High school students in Dunkerton, Iowa were expecting an assembly about bullying and making good choices. What they got instead was the Christian rap/hard rock band called Junkyard Prophet delivering an anti-gay and anti-abortion rant.

According to the La Crosse Tribune, after the band performed, they separated the girls, boys, and teachers into three breakout groups. “They told my daughter, the girls, that they were going to have mud on their wedding dresses if they weren’t virgins,” said Jennifer Littlefield, whose 16-year-old daughter, Alivia called her in tears after the event. Reportedly, one of the band members led the girls in a chant pledging purity and encouraged them to be submissive to their husbands after marriage.

Sick, macabre ghouls:

These macabre freaks (and I’m looking at you Santorum) have developed a new religion of fetus worship and it’s verging on psychotic. Invading the relationship between a doctor and a family who are informed that their fetus will not live outside the womb and insisting they carry it to term is immoral. Forcing a woman who is carrying a dead body inside of her to go through childbirth, despite all the physical and emotional risks that entails, should be criminal.

Women, Sexual McCarthyism, and Right-Wing Authoritarians:

Jennifer Granholm has a great op-ed on The Politico today about sexual McCarthyism, the disease on the right causing them to make women their targets. Mandating transvaginal ultrasound. Demonizing women who dare to speak for the right to contraceptives. Even proposing laws that allow an employer to fire a woman for using contraceptives.

About that Arizona legislation. My first question was how on earth any employer would even know a female employee had used contraception. How could they know without violating health privacy laws? Someone suggested to me that all they’d have to do is ask. Imagine that conversation.

Sexual McCarthyism. Have you ever used contraceptives? Are you using them now? Have you had an abortion? And say, are any of your friends Commie Pinkos?
