• “A lot of unfinished business, Mr. Bohannon.” AMC’s Western drama “Hell on Wheels” returns for a second season on Sunday, August 12th at 10pm, and from what we can glean from the network’s promo below, the transcontinental railroad is still being built, Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) is still pursuing vengeance and opportunities to take baths remain few and far between.

• Hell on Wheels received its first-ever series Emmy Awards nomination in the category of Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. The theme was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla.
• The Walking Dead is Nominated for Three Emmy Awards! “Special Makeup Designer Greg Nicotero and his KNB EFX team were nominated for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for Season 2 Episode 1, “What Lies Ahead”. VFX Supervisors Victor Scalise, Jason Sperling and Darrell Pritchett — along with their team at Stargate Studios — were nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects for their work on Season 2 Episode 13, “Beside The Dying Fire”. Supervising Sound Editor Jerry Ross was also nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for Season 2 Episode 13, “Beside The Dying Fire”.

• “Smallville” creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are set to rewrite The Machine, Deadline reports. The project was announced last year and will star Vin Diesel [who] will the produce the project, as he has with several prior films, including Fast and Furious and Fast Five. He previously teamed with the project’s original screenwriters Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon (as an actor only) for the 2005 comedy The Pacifier.
• Jessica Biel No Longer Involved in James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE. Talks have broken down between Biel and 20th Century Fox and the studio is now talking to other actresses.
