• Matt Smith has said that Steven Moffat’s plans for the next series of Doctor Who will leave fans teary-eyed. “When Steven was going to pitch the next season to me not long ago, he said, ‘Are you ready to cry?’”

• Swimming with sharks – The whale shark is getting a new lease of life, thanks to an ecotourism-based conservation programme in the Philippines.
