Chapter 4
Luna headed to the entrance of the hotel where a bellboy was already waiting with her cab. Luna smiled at him and got in the car.
“They told me there’s a new club. I think it’s at the centre of the town.” Luna explained to the cabdriver as she gave him a piece of paper with the address of the club written on it.
“Yes. Today is the opening. Sometimes there are celebrities that show up there because they are promoting some movie or record.”
He explained as he looked at Luna through the mirror. “Maybe you meet some famous actor.” The driver added, winking at her. In response, Luna snorted, rolling her eyes.
The cab driver was from Puerto Rico and Luna found herself laughing hard at some of the anecdotes he was sharing with her.
The ride to the club passed in a flash because Luna had been having a lot of fun with Salvador, the cab driver.
When they arrived, Luna’s eyes widened completely. There was at least a fifty meter line up of people waiting to have access to the club. She looked back at Salvador who grinned.
“That’s usual.” He said. “Go ahead. Smile and move your hips. They will let you pass.” Salvador added as he grinned playfully.
Luna swallowed hard as she took a deep breath. Ok, honey. Here we are. It’ll be very easy. If you survived your first meeting with Mrs. Müller, you’ll survive anything, she told herself.
After a hesitant moment, she headed to the main entrance, swinging her hips in a slow cadence, walking slowly. Four bouncers were at the front. They were wearing identical black outfits and their faces were showing cold, emotionless expressions.
Luna frowned deeply. Maybe it hadn’t been that good an idea to come here after all. She was starting to think how the hell she was going to manage to enter the club without having to wait in the line. Luna was sure she wouldn’t get in until the next century. She was already searching for the perfect person to start talking to when she heard his voice.
“What a killer ass, babydoll.” He teased.
What an original guy, she mocked. Luna turned on her heels to look at him. ¡Mierda! Her mind cried out as she started to chew on her lower lip. There he was again; ‘caramel skin’ with Valentino. You really hate me that much, huh? She silently told God, just in case he was listening to her this time.
‘Caramel skin’ was wearing black trousers and a black shirt. A cap and his sunglasses. This guy has a serious problem with lights, Luna, I tell you, sugar, her interior voice joked and Luna chuckled silently.
Luna took a deep breath and swallowed hard, chewing her bottom lip.
“Hi.” She said in a sweet voice and just stood there frozen, unable to make her body move.
“Hey, no finger this time?” He replied, teasing her as he continued walking to her side, looking at her lips.
Don’t look at me that way, man, she said to herself.
He was grinning and stopped right in front of her. He was really big. Full of muscles. More than Luna had thought the first time she saw him. Suddenly the idea that all of his body was huge crossed her mind as a ray of light and a shiver ran through her body.
“Not this time.” Luna answered, a little embarrassed about her behavior. Another idea crossed her mind and before she could stop herself, she spoke. “Why don’t you get me into the club?” She asked him, frowning slightly. What the hell are you saying, Luna? her interior voice asked.
“And…What am I gonna receive in return?” He mocked, still grinning.
“What do you want?” She retorted. Whoa, there, Luna. You don’t know this guy at all, sugar.
His eyes widened behind his sunglasses and he stared at her in complete silence for a few seconds, as if he was considering her reply. Then slowly he gave her the once over, fixing every detail. After a few seconds more, he laughed, making Luna blush. Now what, asshole? She thought silently and turned around, ready to leave the place.
“Wait, babydoll.” He said as he took her hand in his and headed towards the entrance without adding another word.
Luna didn’t complain, at least she didn’t have to wait in the line. She grinned as she looked down at his hand. Smooth and beautiful, she thought as she found herself staring at his hand.
Valentino cleared the entrance as they passed through the crowd. Luna heard people screaming and taking pictures as they passed without stopping next to them. At the same time the bouncer removed the security cordon as they came up the stairs.
Luna looked at him and saw how he was smiling and waving at the people surrounding them with his free hand. She frowned, puzzled, and thought that maybe the guy was famous. At the end she was in LA, so anything was possible. Maybe he was a rugby player or something like that.
Suddenly an idea popped in her mind. Aw, no fucking way. Don’t even think about it, Luna, the voice inside of her head scolded her. Forget about it, right now, woman. She retorted silently.
If he was an actor, he must be from action movies. She tried to remember any of them but her mind went blank in seconds, when a flash blinded her. ¡Mierda! Luna shut her eyes tightly as she blinked furiously in a lame attempt to clear her vision.
After a few minutes they were inside the club. The place was packed with people, the music blaring and millions of lights were shining. It hasn’t been that difficult, Luna, sugar.
Luna didn’t realize it but she was still holding his hand and when he squeezed her hand slightly, Luna blushed in embarrassment. She was still looking down at his hand and slowly she lifted her head and locked eyes with him.
They looked at each other and time seemed to stop for a few seconds around them. She bit her lower lip as he arched both brows, grinning. Luna let go of his hand as if it was on fire.
“Thank you.” She managed to say and turned to go. He grabbed her arm and drew her body to him, pressing his full lips against her ear.
“What? All ready to leave me?” He whispered and his hot breath sent a ticklish sensation down Luna’s spine. She shut her eyes, swallowing hard and then looked around, avoiding looking at him at any cost.
“Wanna have a drink?” She asked, clearing her throat. All of sudden she felt stupid not being able to look directly at him. In response, he grinned, releasing her.
“Ask for whatever you feel like it, babydoll. It’s on the house.” He whispered and with that he turned on his heels, disappearing from her view.
For a few minutes Luna just stood there frozen. She blushed and looked at her empty hand. After a moment she smiled sadly. Why do you feel so sad? She asked herself puzzled. You don’t know that asshole, Luna. A strange sensation flooded her, as Luna thought about him.
Then she frowned slightly and licked her bottom lip. It tasted like blood and Luna realized she had been chewing so hard she had end bleeding.
“Mierda.” Luna whispered and turned around heading to the bar as her stomach clenched tightly with a sensation she couldn’t place because she never had felt it before, ever.
