Bishop tried to control his breath as the ship hit the trees. He hated to land at the best of times; hated to put his life completely in the hands of another. His eyes bored holes into the tech officer and if there was a way to kill the man right now he would do it. Ch 23

The tech officer, bored with his job, swept the area again. It was hard to track for certain attributes in Trieste system’s nebula; it threw everything off, sometimes only by a little, and sometimes by a lot. On his fourth cup of coffee he blinked to clear the sleep from his eyes and scanned the list of planets and tried to discern what attributes could be gleaned from them on the console in front of him. Usually he would just let the computer do this mindless chore, but nothing worked quite right here.

Chapter 20 (I part)

Hanna is asleep in the suite and Ricardo is with her right now. I left them alone not because I wanted to but because big dark guy didn’t leave me room to complain. I don’t want to let Hanna out of my sight but I know Ricardo has more experience dealing with what all of us are facing now.

Chapter 19  

Hanna is deeply asleep, her eyes moving in frantic action under her eyelids. Her face is relaxed and even though she has been whimpering softly in her sleep, she doesn’t seem to be having a nightmare. At least that’s what I’m hoping with all my heart and soul, repeating to myself over and over that she’s okay; that she’s back with me where she belongs. It’s like a mantra I’m silently chanting again and again. I don’t even know if I’m trying to convince myself this is real, but honestly, I don’t care about anything else with the exception of Hanna.

Chapter 17  

The last thing I heard through my earphones before I ripped them off my ears was Big Sexy yelling at his men to clean the mess. Then I lifted my head as ‘Mad Doc’ and ‘Little Doc’ stormed into the room, bringing the med kit with them, shouting at us to move our asses so they could work.

We left the vehicles parked in Santa Maria with the exception of the SUV carrying the med unit. Big Sexy himself parked it as close as possible, leaving two men behind, ‘Mad Doc’ and ‘Little Doc’, to take care of it, waiting for our sign to drive it up to the warehouse in seconds.

“I think you should wait here, Toretto.” Ricardo says to me as he pulls out one of his brand new shivs. I freeze, motionless for a second and without saying a word, I keep loading my gun, ignoring him. Ricardo sighs hard, looking at me. “Listen, man, don’t get me wrong. I know you have balls but this fucker is not like those two dicks. And if he doesn’t want to say shit I’m gonna do whatever I need to make him spill where Hanna is.”
