Michelle Rodriguez: Always getting killed
• READ: Why does Michelle Rodriguez always get killed off? We asked her
Michelle Rodriguez kicked ass in Lost and Avatar, but her characters always get killed. Why is that? We managed to corner her at San Diego Comic Con and ask her.
We caught up with Rodriguez at the press conference for her new film Battle: Los Angeles and asked her this question during the Q&A. Here’s what she said then:
Because I don’t take my clothes off, and I’m nobody’s girlfriend. The writers are new to the whole tough girl thing, and they don’t know what to do with [me]. We’ve got the dude who’s strong, so what do we do with the chick who’s strong? We kill her. Eventually they’ll get used to it, and maybe Salt will change a thing or two.
We liked her answer so much, we grabbed her afterwards and asked her to repeat her answer on video — and there it is!
Pitch Black: Definitely an under-rated film

- Pitch Black
Forget the junky sequel The Chronicles of Riddick. Pitch Black transcends its Aliens rip-off roots, thanks to great characters, especially the magnetic murderer Riddick, played by Vin Diesel. He’s a bad guy who’s called up to protect a group of stranded space travelers from killer aliens, if only because they increase his own chances for survival. The spin-off video game is also great, but seriously, the sequel is crap. - Sunshine

• READ: Exclusive : Details on Fast Five villain & love interest
Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida)
Described as a “heartless, incredibly strong and charming Latino runs the local drug ring. He is just as cruel as he is smart; he has most of the local law enforcement and bureaucrats in his pocket.” Was responsible for the death of Elena’s (Elsa Pataky) partner. Has assigned his men Lanzo, Berto and Capa to go undercover in Dom’s gang.Reyes’ number two is a guy named Zizi, who “has an eerie appearance” and is “a fearsome man. He is compliant to his employer’s demands. Is not squeamish when it comes to doing what needs to be done.”
Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky)
Elena is said to be “a Hard and still gorgeous law enforcement agent. Has a harsh background from a grueling ghetto. Is known for her ability to keep her morals in tact.” She forms a unique bond with fugitive Dom (Vin Diesel) since they’ve both lost their loved ones – in her case, her police-officer husband who Reyes murdered. It’s a difficult relationship, being that their both working on opposite sides, but like Dom & Brian in the original, they ultimately unite to bring down a common enemy.
Finally, our contact tells us that Jordana Brewster will – despite not having been mentioned as doing so – be returning as Dom’s sister/Brian’s love ‘Mia’. “[Mia] and Brian are the central characters in the big opening number”, we’re told.
Jack [5]
Gold afternoon sunlight dappled through the trees, falling in bright blotches across the backs of the laden horses on the edge of the forest. The dun pack horse beneath her snorted and pawed through tough beach grass, seeking the tender shoots near the earth. Jack gave the animal a little lead but pulled him back before he could wander too far. The beast stayed where she held him but she let his let his head drop, taking the reins with him and craned his neck out further and munched. If she hadn’t been watching the skyline so intently she would have smirked at its determination.

Fast Five: Vince is in
Via: JoBlo.com/“Three more join Diesel and The Rock in Fast Five”
Filming is underway on FAST FIVE, the fifth film in the FAST AND THE FURIOUS franchise, and three new actors have signed on to join Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Paul Walker in the film. Spanish hottie Esla Pataky (right), Joaquim de Almeida and Matt Schulze, who you may remember from the first film (I, for one, don’t but that’s just me).
Blush of the day: Apparently, I write like Stephen King
Results via: http://iwl.me/
Using: Chapter 1 of “Jack”
Wow. I really wasn’t expecting that and I would have loved to have caught the surprised, tickled even, look on my face when that result popped up. What was I expecting? I’m not entirely sure, especially as the article I jumped from (Chances are you write like Dan Brown via: BoingBoing) had me eying the page nervously as I dropped my text in there, fearful of what would come up.
Stephen King has been one of my favorite authors for years. Hell, for decades. I know a test like this is probably a pretty weak way to judge writing but still, fricken cool and yeah, I’m just going to be flattered and happy.
